'Tolerance trumps Hate' High-Level Conference
DeMus representatives participated at the High Level Conference “Tolerance Trumps Hate” held on 8th of May and organised by the Belgian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers at the Council of Europe.

Youth activists from across the continent joined high-level representatives from the 47 Council of Europe member states in Brussels to discuss how best to tackle intolerance and hate speech whilst protecting human rights and democracy online and offline.

Academics, NGOs and media representatives as well as high-level officials discussed formal and non-formal education, the role of the media and the contribution of social partners such as employers, trade unions and sports bodies can make to tackle intolerance and discrimination.

The high level conference had for outcome to draw up a set of principles and recommendations to help guide the Council of Europe’s future work in this area, building on the success of the recent No Hate Speech movement.
